BECAUSE WE PUT OUR TRUST IN GOD . . .
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. ~ Psalm 16:11
David’s 16th Psalm is called a “Michtam”, which some have translated to mean a “golden psalm”…or treasure! David knew and understood what he found in God. He knew in Him were all the treasures of life. There were no other treasures greater than the Lord and His presence. David, not unlike the rest of us, had done horrible things, but he knew he was forgiven and God restored all things. Joy is found in this! It is in God we put our trust! We run to Him when we sin or encounter problems. David said “You are my Lord; I have no good beside or beyond You.” That, my friend, is an acknowledgement that without God we have no good in us! This is the reason for Jesus! This is the reason for the Cross!
No matter what lies ahead, no matter the trials or tribulations that come, God “maintains my lot.” Because we put our trust in God, desiring His presence continually in our lives, our cup overflows with His blessings.
I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety, for You will not abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead), neither will You suffer Your holy one [Holy One] to see corruption. ~ Psalm 16:7-10
